Scope and Contents Letter written to Andros, noting that as a result of the Royal Charter establishing the College, the Crown grants Francis Nicholson "and others named in our said charter" the sum of 1,985 pounds 14 shillings and 10 pence "out of such Money Received for our Revenue of Quit Rents in our said Colony as is remaining in the hands of our Trusty and Welbeloved [sic] William Byrd." Marilyn Kaemmerle Collection

Scope and Contents A scrapbook of newspaper articles and other loose clippings in response to a February 7, 1945 Flat Hat editorial, "Lincoln's Job Half-Done," by Marilyn Kaemmerle, then the Flat Hat's editor-in-chief. Kaemmerle advocated for racial equality and integration, particularly at William & Mary. Her editorial piece received a wide response both on campus and across the United States, leading to her removal from the Flat Hat staff and a temporary suspension ordered by the Board of Visitors....

James M. Pasteur letter to Harris Tinker, Jr.

Three-page letter addressed to his cousin in Greensboro, Alabama. Pasteur is a student at William and Mary on break and visiting family. He writes of his appreciation for having his cousin relay a message of courtship to a Miss Julia, despite the lukewarm response she wrote in return.
